Michael Schlechtweg received the Dipl.-Ing. Degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University Darmstadt in 1982, and the Dr.-Ing. Degree from the University of Kassel in1989. He then joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics, Freiburg, Germany. Since 1996, he has led the RF devices and circuits department, as well as the business field high-frequency electronics, focusing on the design and the characterization of devices and integrated circuits based on III-V compound semiconductors for RF applications, as well as the development of integrated circuits and modules for sensor and communication systems up to 1 THz. He has coauthored 300 scientific publications and holds two patents. He received the Fraunhofer Prize in 1993 and the European Microwave Prize in 1998.
