What prevents your car from being stolen?

Multiple RF techniques are used in a modern car key to lock and unlock your car. Highest convenience is offered by a so-called passive keyless entry (PKE) system, which allows you to keep your key in your pocket while doors lock and unlock automatically, and makes your engine start by just pushing a button. However, recent increase in car thefts got quite some attention in the press, which raised concerns about the security of PKE systems. This talk will explain what RF techniques are used in modern cars to prevent unauthorized access and driving, while still providing the highest access convenience.
