Status quo solid-state RF energy: market uptake, applications and technologies
Semiconductor driven RF energy processes like cooking, plasma applications, hyperthermia, ablation, drying or other dielectric heating applications make optimal use of the control aspects that this technology offers. As a result, these processes can take place with higher yields, better quality or even ‘at all’ when compared to the legacy magnetron as a power source. In particular, the whitegood/cooking markets were enthusiastic about the possibilities in the beginning – were it not for the relatively high cost of the technology. This talk will briefly summarize the development of the technology and the associated business for the last couple of years and present a revised outlook for further uptake of RF energy in different market segments.
