New applications for RF energy
The field of RF energy is much larger than just replacing microwave tubes by solid-state amplifiers. There are many more innovative and interesting use cases possible that are now enabled by the possibility of generating controllable RF power. A selection of these applications will be described in this talk. Examples are: an RF powered conduction heater, which can be used to heat up small quantities very precise and fast. The treatment of tumors by way of microwave ablation. Or the generation of plasma for automotive ignition to increase the efficiency which reduces the amount of generated pollutants.
