Highly integrated antenna front-end design for radar, satcom and 5G

Highly integrated RF front-ends are key components for Ku/K/Ka/V/W-band satcom-on-themove (SOTM), multimedia entertainment systems, radar/sensor systems, 5G communication, 60 GHz broadband home access equipment and front/backhaul networks. Designing such complex RF modules can be a real challenge; a highly sophisticated compromise between cost, performance and aesthetics. This has been IMST core business for the last decades. Some of these RF modules, composed of not only a large number of antenna elements, but also active components, complex multilayer structures, RF interfaces and power combiners will be presented. Also, it will be demonstrated how RF and thermal characteristics of active RFcomponents can be merged with 3D EM simulations.
