Embrace circuit nonlinearity to get transmitter ‘linearity’ and energy efficiency
Since Ohm’s Law forbids linear amplifier circuitry to be energy efficient, efforts to improve linear PA efficiency are a fool’s game, particularly for modern signals. How to use the strongly nonlinear circuitry necessary to achieve transmitter efficiencies exceeding 50% during modulation, while also producing all output signals at the highest quality, is described in this keynote.
