Benelux RF Conference recognized as key focus for Nijmegen

The city of Nijmegen has recognized high tech as a major economic cluster and RF technology as a key focus within that cluster. Marcel de Haan has been appointed cluster accelerator. One of his main responsibilities is connecting Nijmegen event organizer and publishing house Techwatch, the Novio Tech Campus Nijmegen and Nijmegen-based RF semiconductor companies to further develop the Benelux RF Conference into an internationally leading knowledge exchange for top RF specialists.

Nijmegen has been a hot spot for (RF) chip development since 1953, when Philips Semiconductors came to town. Nowadays, most mobile telephone calls placed worldwide are routed through base stations that use an RF chip from Nijmegen, made by Ampleon or NXP. And many modern cars provide keyless entry with RF chips from NXP. Nijmegen is the ideal location to host the Benelux RF Conference.

Based on the Novio Tech Campus Nijmegen, the Benelux RF Conference brings together high tech professionals and companies involved in the development and application of high-end RF techniques. It features an in-depth lecture programme, an inspiring sponsor area offering ample networking opportunities and hands-on RF training courses. In 2016 and 2017 the conference welcomed 151 and 169 participants, respectively, from industry front-runners such as Ampleon, Astron, Dialog, Esa, Imec, NXP, Philips, Qorvo, Thales, TNO, TSMC, and many more.

The 2018 conference features:

  • Opening by Monique Esselbrugge, Nijmegen‚Äôs alderwoman for economic affairs
  • Keynotes by Earl McCune (Eridan Communications/TU Delft) and Patrick Reynaert (KU Leuven)
  • Parallel tracks with sessions on 5G, advanced technologies, radar, RF power and smart antennas, from Fraunhofer, Imec-NL, IMST, Newtec, NXP, TNO, Vodafone and others
  • Pre-conference half-day beginner and advanced training courses hosted by the RF Energy Alliance, open to conference attendees and non-attendees interested in gaining additional hands-on knowledge on high power, RF energy systems and components
